Spending plenty of time in his mother’s sewing workshop, Angel Sanchez was inspired early on to pursue fashion. Born in Venezuela, as a young kid, he was always surrounded by dressmaking, beautiful fabrics, and intricate sewing.
In 1987, Angel hung up his hat as an architect, and moved into clothing design. Sanchez quickly became a popular designer in his native country as well as throughout all Latin American countries. In 1997, he moved his establishment to New York City, where his success continued. His eveningwear collection flooded top US retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman.
In 1999, he officially became a wedding gown designer when he introduced his first bridal line, which also received noticeable attention immediately by the industry and press. Later that year he became a leader in his profession and joined the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
As far as his wedding collections go, Angel Sanchez is renowned for his elegant designs that are architectural, contemporary and feminine all at the same time. He likes to combine little touches of drama with true innovative details.
Most notably starting in 2005, Sanchez captured the attention of Hollywood. Actresses such as Sandra Bullock and Eva Longoria have worn numerous gowns designed by him on the red carpet. He even designed wedding gowns for both of these stars.
